Rotary Coil Tong for Cranes

Product Description of Segment Tong

When our standard size coil tong does not meet your requirements, we can fabricate one according to your specific specifications. This ensures maximum safety as the device operates on your local construction sites.

Optional components for the coil tong include the rotating head and weighing system. The rotating mechanism allows the coil to rotate around its vertical axis, while the weighing system can accurately measure the weight of the coil.

Overhead Crane Features

The coil tong is produced as a single-piece element and typically hangs beneath the crane, connected to the crane using one, two, three, or four couplings. The coupling can be either stationary or rotary. In a rotary configuration, the rotating head provides a wide range of rotational speeds, adjustable via the variable frequency drive (nominal speed: 1.2 rpm).

A weighing system can be added at the contact point between the coil and the tong jaw, displaying the weight of the coil on a screen attached to the tong body.

During operation, the telescopic tong jaw can be extended or retracted to the desired length to cover the majority of the coil's width. The minimum allowable width of the coil is 300mm. The motion of the tong jaw is controlled and driven by a brake and motor reducer, with both jaws approaching the coil simultaneously.

Lateral protection is used to detect whether the jaw has made contact with the coil or not.
